Hi, i'm just starting a brick shed build and i need a little advice for the foundations. the brick shed will be 30m2, roughly 4.50m(w) x 6.50m(l) x 2.50m(h), cavity insulated wall with brick and block and a flat or slightly pitched roof.. Foundation for a brick shed. discussion in 'building' started by shinogi, 16 apr 2013. so you're saying that if i take my foundations depth to 1 meter, i should be good to go? yes, it is a rule for my build. to build the brick shed without building regulations approval, the "floor area" has to be no larger than 30m2.. I'm thinking of building a brick shed myself with help from family and friends. the shed is going to be 4.7 metres wide, 3metres wide and 2.5 metres high. the shed would have a flat roof would i need planning permission. i have spoken to both my neighbours and they have no issues with building the shed..
Not depth but firmness is the requirement. if you embed iron mesh into the slab of cement to produce reinforced concrete then the base (foundation) need only be three inches thick. the idea is to stop one half of the brickwall subsiding.. My footings for a brick built garage, same dimensions are 750mm deep with 500mm of concrete with one row of blocks bringing them back up to ground level.. The depth will depend on the length of the post, normally one third of the post length must go into the footing, with a minimum footing depth of 230mm. the footing diameter should be three times the diameter of the post being placed..
